Women's STD Testing: Reinventing the Clinic

Women’s public health is a huge issues in the United States. Many factors contribute to the need for this redesign, from the current political climate to poverty rates in urban areas. Going to the clinic does not have to be a stressful and uncomfortable process. My aim is to redesign the service of a clinic and treatment center for women through STD testing. Based on my research, there are three key principles that must be present for a clinic to be comfortable.

Initial ideation testing of Fem.:

Fem. was first developed as a consultation service concept. At this stage, I tested Fem. through “whiteboxing” and acted out the steps in the service experience with volunteers. This helped me determine the faults in the concept, which lead to final iteration outlined earlier.
